The Garage. Or as we like to call it: The Seventh Level of Hell

If I had a lick of sense I wouldn't let anyone see these pictures. But, I've never been accused of having a lick of sense.

This is what I'm working on right now: the garage. We've never parked our cars in there because we use it more for storage for all the junk that we have and don't need. One of the springs on the garage door broke several months ago and we weren't in a hurry to fix it because we hardly ever opened the door anyway. I had the springs replaced 3 days ago and then last night I broke the door again. Or maybe I just broke the opener. I'm not sure what happened but something is broken and the door doesn't work and every time I turn around another $200 flies out of our pockets.

See anything you want? You can't have the card catalog or the dresser it's sitting on, but pretty much everything else is up for grabs. I want to have this finished by the end of the day on Monday. Think I can do it? I don't know either but I'm going to try.

If you judge me because your garage is all neat and orderly, I will come to your house and look under all your beds and in all your closets and cabinets and under your kitchen sink because I guarantee you they can't hold a candle to mine. The healing process for a recovering hoarder takes time and I have until midnight on Monday to be totally healed. It can happen.
I would love to explain what everything is but I can't because I have no idea what half of this junk is for or why we saved it.
Can you see my dog pulling a Where's Waldo?

Poor Snappy stayed in the garage with me all day. I think she was afraid the junk would overpower me and I'd be lost forever.

Jayson has these 2 work benches that I don't think have ever functioned as work benches. I am going to commandeer one of them for myself.

I had already stared working before I remembered to take a before picture. That shoe rack is actually a helpful little item and will live inside our new garage as well.

Those drawers are completely empty! I don't know how Jayson could let all that potential storage space go to waste.

Who has a pegboard with little hooks all over it and doesn't hang anything from the hooks?? That's just crazy.

Thank you so much for not saying, "Oh my gosh you people are pigs!" and running away in terror!

That doesn't look like my garage, but it almost exactly matches my basement!

See Chris, that's the problem! We can't have basements here in South Louisiana for the same reason we can't bury our dead. You almost can't even plant petunias without hitting water. So it's really not my fault that garage looks like this, it's because I don't have a basement.

Ack, that aint nothin'...you should see mine. All 3 cars worth of a 3 car garage full o' crap. I've been meaning to get around to it, but everytime I go in there I come back out screaming. You did a great job decluttering, though. Kudos to ya.

Thanks Ann! And it's comforting to know that there might be a garage out there in worse shape than mine was!
